The PyeongChang 2018 mission of the Italian cross-country skiing squad has already begun. The President of the FISI, Flavio Roda has formed the teams for the 2017/18 season. The team manager will once again be Sandro Pertile, with Giuseppe Chenetti as the coach of the men’s and women’s squads. The teams have been split into groups to favour the approach up to the 22nd Winter Olympic Games. In the season which has just ended, Italy celebrated Federico Pellegrino’s gold medal in the world sprint in Lahti (12 years after Pietro Piller Cottrer’s victory in the 15 km skating in Oberstdorf 2005.) and the silver medal, also won by Federico Pellegrino, together with Dietmar Noeckler, one up on the third place achieved two years ago by the Italian pair in the World Championships in Falun.
