The technical Alpine Skiing competitions (Slalom and Giant Slalom) will take place at Korea’s biggest ski resort in Yongpyong. With 28 ski runs and 14 lifts, the area is used in the summer months for golf, with two private 18-hole clubs and a 9-hole public course.
Built in 1998, it has hosted four skiing World Cup ski events (1998, 2000, 2003 and 2006) and the Asian Winter Games in 1999. The Giant Slalom will take place on the Rainbow I slope, 1,191m long with average slope 34.4%, while the Slalom will run on Rainbow II, 583m long with average slope 36%.
