Victory for the amazing 24 year old Dominik Fischnaller in the men’s single luge World Cup semifinal. His success is particularly significant because this win, the fourth in his career, took place on the PyeongChang slope, where the Olympic medal winners will be decided next year. He showed great form on a run well-adapted to his manoeuvrability.

Fischnaller, from Bolzano, obtained the best time in both the first and the second rounds in a season which, although nearly over, has launched him into the top echelons of the world circuit. At the end of the two rounds, his time was 1'37"229. Andy Langenham was in second place, by a narrow margin of 0.149 seconds. Canadian Samuel Edney, in third place, was 0.465 seconds behind. For Italy, this is the 93rd win in the history of single men’s luge, on a day that saw a great performance from Emanuel Rieder, with a career best seventh position, while Kevin Fischnaller finished twenty sixth and Theo Gruber thirtieth.
