Today marks the start of the competition season that will take the luging team to the PyeongChang Olympic Games. The training director Armin Zoeggeler, who was also confirmed as the leader of Italia Team this year, has actually gathered nine World Cup athletes together for an athletic training session in Lana (BZ). There alongside the bronze medallist Dominik Fischnaller are Kevin Fischnaller, Ludwig Rieder, Emanuel Rieder, Patrick Rastner, Simon Kainzwaldner, Florian Gruber, Andrea Voetter and Sandra Robatscher. The training team is also made up of Oswald Haselrieder, Matthias Schnitzer and Wilfried Huber.
Over the past few weeks, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) has made decisions regarding the list of trainers and athletes selected for the 2017/2018 season, confirming the entire team that won a total of four podiums at last year’s World Cup, including Dominik Fischnaller’s victory in the individual event on the piste of the Alpensia Sliding Centre, where the Olympic medals will be awarded in February 2018.
