Biography

From Turin 2006 to PyeongChang 2018: the Olympic story of Italian curling is intertwined with that of his life. In fact, his father, Eros, manages the facility in Pinerolo that hosted the only Olympics in which Italy, the organiser, had participated until now and which Gonin attended as a spectator. In Korea, he had the opportunity to live out his Olympic dream on the main stage. The son of Physical Education teachers, he also studies Sports Science – sport is in his DNA. His undisputed idol is Alex Zanardi, who he holds in great esteem as both an athlete and an individual: one who is capable of continuously overcoming his own limits. Before each competition, he listens to music to get “fired up”. His Olympics are undeniably... rock.
