Biography

Luging is in the Gruber family’s DNA. In fact, his brother Alex is the world champion on natural tracks, a sport that Florian began practising aged six. However, aged sixteen he shifted to the artificial track because his dream is to compete at the Olympics, and perhaps win a medal. Together with his doubles partner, Simon Kainzwaldner, he left Villanders with this aim and, given his numerous successes at the Junior and Under 23 level, along with his gold medal at the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck in 2012, the task is not so impossible. In his spare time, he enjoys playing football, volleyball and going to the mountains. Once he retires, he would like to see more of the world; however, for now his aim is to conquer Korea.
