Biography

The Italian luger’s promise blossomed in 1993: the year before his mentor, Armin Zoeggeler, won the first of his six Olympic medals. As the younger brother of Hans Peter Fischnaller and the cousin of Kevin Fischnaller, luging is a family matter for him. His trophy cabinet already contains a Junior World Cup, seven Junior World Championship medals (including two gold medals) and two bronze World Championship medals (in the classic event and in the sprint) at the World Championships in Igls in 2017. In his spare time, he plays football and loves to ski, but his dream is to “become like Armin.” His victory at the World Cup on the Olympic track in PyeongChang may be a good omen for his participation in his second Olympic Games (after Sochi 2014). An Italian lightning bolt is ready to fly through the Korean sky.
